Today, companies face complex IT infrastructure challenges. Key issues include cyber security and the management of damage risks such as outages and fires. A company that is ill-prepared for these threats can find itself in a dire situation, where compromising its data entails colossal costs. This is why the establishment of a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) becomes essential to ensure the sustainability and resilience of IT systems.
The Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) is a strategic scheme set up by companies to ensure recovery of their computer systems and data after a major incident.
The main objective of the DRP is to minimize the impact of a computer outage or attack on business operations. It includes detailed procedures to restore critical activities in the shortest possible time, whether after a hardware incident, cyber attack (such as ransomware), network failure or any other crisis affecting IT infrastructure.
The DRP relies on key elements such as regular backups, data recovery strategies, communication plans and frequent testing to ensure its effectiveness.
In the event of an incident, DRP allows the company to quickly recover its systems, minimizing business interruption and associated financial losses.
The Business Continuity Plan (BCP), on the other hand, has a broader scope and aims to ensure the continuation of the company’s operations even in the event of a major crisis.
While DRP focuses on the recovery of computer systems and data, the BCP is interested in all the essential functions of the company. Including business processes, human resources management, logistics and much more. The objective is to ensure that the business can continue to operate, or at least maintain its core functions, during and after a crisis.
The BCP includes preventive measures and fallback solutions for each business line of the company.
For example, in the case of a pandemic, natural disaster or cyber attack, BCP provides alternatives to maintain services (telework, communication relays, use of emergency sites, etc.).
It also integrates risk and crisis management to protect employees, customers and partners while ensuring the sustainability of the company.
No business is immune from the unexpected: a fire in a strategic building, a network failure affecting an entire site, or major hardware failure. When a main site becomes suddenly unusable, the activity can be abruptly interrupted with serious economic, human and operational consequences. In this context, having a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) is no longer an option but a necessity.
Recent events illustrate the risks of total reliance on centralized infrastructure:
– The OVH datacenter fire in Strasbourg in 2021 caused the sudden shutdown and loss of thousands of digital services.
– Microsoft Azure outage on the US west coast, immobilised critical services for several hours, affecting both SMEs and large enterprises.
In these contexts, companies that did not have a fallback option faced significant operating losses.
Consider also the case of an industrial company that has suffered a fire at its logistics site: if a robust BCP is in place, the activity can switch in seconds to an operational secondary site. Without anticipation, the entire production chain can be shut down for an indefinite period.
With a well thought-out resilience strategy, incluant des environnements alternatifs, des passerelles de secours et des sites redondants, ces scénarios peuvent être maîtrisés. Et c’est précisément là que W360 prend tout son sens.
W360 is distinguished by a hybrid approach designed to ensure continuity of service, even in the event of physical interruption, disaster or network failure. Its architecture combines the flexibility of SaaS with the reliability of On-Premise, offering companies a solution capable of responding effectively to emergency situations.
Au cœur de l’architecture W360 se trouvent les Gateways redondées, véritables garantes de la continuité de service.
In the event of an incident affecting a site or datacenter, active connections are automatically redirected to a backup infrastructure without manual intervention. User environments, running locally on the machines, remain fully accessible.
This distributed design allows to limit any interruption of service, even in the event of a loss, and significantly enhances workplace resilience. With this flexibility, the activity can continue without interruption, regardless of where the incident occurs.
In the event of a crisis, fire, network failure or localized disaster, a technician or sales representative can recover his work environment in seconds from another gateway or secondary site.
No complex manual restore is required: continuity is automatic without interruption.
And above all, this architecture does not require no heavy infrastructure change, nor advanced technical skills. Deployed in less than an hour (if network feeds are open), it integrates naturally into the existing environment, without additional cost or complexity of implementation.
In the case of a customer relationship centre, the benefits are particularly concrete. The stop of posts even for few minutes, can result in immediate losses. When it comes to many hours, the shortfall can reach hundreds of thousands of euros.
This immediate flip capability is based on a natively integrated mechanism dans la solution. Contrairement aux systèmes axés uniquement sur la sauvegarde de données, W360 mise sur la business continuity allowing teams to continue their activities, where they had stopped, without prolonged interruption. For multi-site companies or in search of a solid resilience plan, this architecture is a strategic assurance, without technical complexity or heavy investment.
