The development of the cloud and massive data storage has an ecological cost that is often overlooked. “ Data centers will soon consume as much electricity as entire countries, such as Japan ”, Éric Sele. A statement that pushes Wisper to rethink the use of IT infrastructures by favoring local execution rather than an excessive dependence on remote servers.
This approach allows to reduce the bandwidth consumption, to optimize existing resources and reduce the load on data centers. Indeed, innovation must go in the direction of a better management of equipment, and not of a technological race that pushes for constant renewal.
The IT sector is characterized by very short renewal cycles, often accelerated by the evolution of operating systems. “ Too often, companies are forced to change hardware just because of an update of Windows 11" , says Eric Sele.
Wisper offers an alternative by developing solutions capable of adapting workstations to new software versions, without requiring massive investment in new equipment.
This approach prolongs the life of computers and limits the generation of electronic waste, which remain difficult to recycle. Every year more for a PC, it is saved resources and reduced carbon impact.
Reducing the ecological footprint is not only about the longevity of equipment, but also better management of their energy consumption. For example, Wisper offers tools to automatically turn off computers outside of working hours. “ A simple setting can make the difference, especially in call centres where machines often run continuously ”, says Eric Sele.
By optimising the use of IT infrastructures, companies can combine environmental liability lower costs. “ Reducing the energy bill while contributing to a more sustainable digital environment is a double benefit ”, he points out.
In a market dominated by players such as VMware, Citrix or Google, Wisper is able to compete thanks to its local tariff transparency. Large US companies often impose unforeseeable price increases. Wisper relies on a relationship of trust with its customers, offering them a stable solution and a controlled pricing.
This approach is attracting more and more companies that are concerned to preserve their technological independence while adopting solutions more responsible and European.
To go even further, Wisper is working on an innovative project: The « PC In The Pocket ». This solution is based on a portable SSD drive, will allow a user to find his or her safe working environment on any computer, without relying on a specific device.
This concept, which is fully in line with the digital sobriety, aims to:
The launch is planned for the summer of 2025, with the ambition to transform the way we design IT every day.
Thanks to its innovations and commitment, W360 demonstrates that high-performance technology can go hand in hand with environmentally friendly approach. The company advocates a more rational use of IT infrastructures, moving away from the model of systematic renewal in favor of sustainable and optimized solutions.
A vision that could well inspire other companies to follow the same path.
